Tanzanian music icon Diamond Platnumz has recounted one of the most painful financial ordeals of his career, telling us about the time he lost billions of Tanzanian shillings while chasing his dream of owning a private helicopter and a private jet. The award-winning superstar said the experience not only impacted him financially but also shifted his approach to business dealings, investments and even his faith.
While speaking on a recent interview, Diamond stated that he had already initiated the purchase of a helicopter and a private jet to better his logistics in travelling abroad and support the burgeoning growth of his music empire. The pop star added that the plan would help him overcome logistical challenges as he moves from one destination to another, cut down on chartered flights and improve the image of his entertainment business, as one of the continent’s best brands.
But the investment, which was set to be one of the biggest in his career, turned out to be a costly fraud. Diamond said he had transferred a large sum to the parties involved, assuming the deal was valid. He later realized that he had been scammed and the aircraft would never materialise. The singer admitted that the setback was hard because he had built his wealth over the years through music, commercials, shows and business deals and that he learned that even a rich entrepreneur could get scammed by unscrupulous people.
Diamond also added that the pain made him devote himself more to religion.”It made me realise that wealth is not a guarantee for safety.
